FAQ: Alone
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

Is it possible to pledge 1$ during the campaign, and upgrade the pledge later?

Yes, it will be possible through our pledge manager. Note that the money pledged after the end of the campaign will not count towards the unlocking of stretch goals, though. By doing this, you ensure you’ll have the chance to receive the Kickstarter exclusive items associated with your pledge, but you won’t be contributing to the unlocking of further stretch goals.

Will the game be available in other languages, in addition to English?

The Kickstarter edition of Alone will only be available in English. If the project will be successfully funded and the game will reach the standard retail channels, it will then be localized by our international partners (but the Kickstarter exclusives won’t we available there, of course).

Will the game have a coop mode and/or a solo mode?

Unfortunately, that will not be possible. No A.I. could ever replace a real human player in the kind of game that we are building (for both sides), and having more than one Hero player would go against the “Alone” feeling, the core concept of the game. It would basically mean to create a whole new game from scratch. As much as we would like to please all of your requests, we cannot deviate too much from the original concept, either.

Will there be the option to play with a female hero?

The story we have currently prepared will have a male protagonist. But we have female characters in the game too, with different abilities, and we will also include scenarios and missions where they will be the protagonists. Also, you will be able to create your own scenarios, and use the character of your choice as the hero.

Why static map sheets, instead of allowing the Evil players to create new maps each time?

The static map sheets are needed to create balanced scenario situations (so that the Hero is never too far or too near to the objective rooms/sectors). Their construction was carefully planned and tested. But we have to say that, given that the hero can never see the whole picture, and that during the setup you can not only flip the map sheets on the other side, but also rotate them 180°, with random room placements on top of that, the possible combinations are very high. Even after the many, many playtest games we all personally played as the Hero, no one of us is yet able to understand which side of which map we are playing in (it’s not like you can just realize a thing like “oh, ok, I am on map A-2, so I know where the next room is”). For the hero, it’s like being in a labyrinth, you have a very zoomed in view.

How do you mark if the lights are on/off with the 3D resin map tiles?

When using the 3D Resin Map Tiles addon kit, Light tokens will be used to mark the sectors where the light has been switched on.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
